Business Development/Marketing Intern

Remote/Hybrid (San Francisco Bay Area)

3-6 months

up to 10 hours per week

General Purpose:

The Business Development & Marketing Intern will play a key role in assisting the team with a variety of tasks aimed at promoting our brand, acquiring new clients, and supporting strategic business growth initiatives. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in both business development and marketing within a fast-paced and growing organization. You will have the chance to learn from and contribute to the Agency’s success.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passionate about writing and skilled at crafting compelling content for a variety of audiences and platforms, especially outreach materials, proposals, and business pitch decks.
  • A self-starter with a strong desire to learn and contribute to the growth of the company.
  • Proficient in conducting market research, analyzing competitor trends, and identifying new business opportunities across public and private sectors.
  • Familiar with digital marketing platforms, tools, and techniques, including social media management (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.), email marketing (Mailchimp, etc.), and web analytics (Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Organized and capable of supporting business development projects such as outreach campaigns, proposal development, and marketing collateral.
  • Familiar with CRM tools (like monday.com) to track prospects, follow-ups, and opportunities.
  • A go-getter who is eager to take initiative, step up to new challenges, and contribute ideas without needing constant direction.
  • Not easily discouraged and willing to put in the effort to learn or find the right answer.
  • Not afraid to ask questions and clarify expectations when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and potential business opportunities.
  • Assist in the analysis of customer data to identify new leads and growth areas.
  • Help with the creation and execution of marketing campaigns (email, social media, content creation, etc.).
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials, including presentations, brochures, and online content.
  • Draft cold outreach emails, build targeted prospect lists, and support proposal submissions across sectors.
  • Monitor social media channels and engagement, assisting with content posting and scheduling.
  • Support outreach efforts to potential clients, partners, and collaborators.
  • Assist in the development of proposals and pitch decks.
  • Track and follow up with leads to ensure timely communication and conversion.
  • Coordinate logistics and assist in event promotion through various marketing channels.
  • Provide administrative support to the Business Development and Marketing teams as needed.
  • Help track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to marketing and business development efforts.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently a Junior or Senior, or recently completed a degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, etc.).
  • Comfortable using collaboration tools like Google Docs, Slack, and Asana.
  • Previous internship or work experience in business development, marketing, or a related field is a plus.
  • Bonus: Experience writing blog posts, outreach emails, or proposal content.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with social impact organizations, RFPs, public sector outreach, or grant writing.
