Marklund is seeking a highly motivated and mission-centered individual for the position of Grants Manager. This is a full-time position based out of our Geneva campus. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM with occasional evenings and weekends for special events. The starting salary for this position is $55,800 - $65,000 based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements.

 

Who We Are:

Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With three residential locations - the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale, and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it is currently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day School offers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autism spectrum. In addition, our Community Day Services program at each site is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklund and those who come in from the community.

The Grants Manager will identify, engage and solicit corporations, foundations and select government grant opportunities.  They will also oversee the CDBG process when applicable.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience are key for this role. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
  • Work within the changing environment to reprioritize and act on fundraising opportunities.   
  • Make appointments with foundation officers and other prospects and arrange onsite tours for corporate and foundation supporters.
  • Work with program staff to prioritize programs for funding.
  • Work with finance to gather information necessary for grant budgets and reports for corporate/foundation funders.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects on the Team as requested. 
  • Help maintain and strengthen corporate/foundation files and information sources. Identify, qualify and rate top corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
  • Provide stewardship to current donors, including working with marketing when appropriate.
